The Mibbinbah National Gathering 2023, hosted by Mibbinbah Spirit Healing, marked a historic event in the journey towards unity and understanding among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Held from October 10–13, 2023, in the serene setting of Batemans Bay, NSW, this gathering was a pioneering initiative, bringing together both male and female participants in a shared space of cultural exchange and celebration.
About the Gathering: For the first time, the gathering welcomed over 75 participants, including non-Indigenous individuals eager to engage with and learn from Indigenous cultures. This diverse group shared stories, experiences, and insights, fostering a deeper understanding of various cultural perspectives and issues.
Cultural Celebrations and Activities: The gathering was enriched with an array of cultural activities, including workshops, traditional ceremonies, dances, and songs. These activities not only showcased the richness of Indigenous cultures but also provided a platform for participants to connect with the land and each other. The natural beauty of Batemans Bay further enhanced this connection, offering a backdrop that resonated with the gathering’s spirit of harmony and belonging.
Vision and Impact: This event was a living embodiment of Mibbinbah’s vision to promote healing, empowerment, and harmony among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. It created a space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration where diverse voices could be heard and respected. The gathering was a celebration of resilience, wisdom, and the willingness to share and embrace diverse cultures.
