This festive season, the Frank Montagnese Foundation is proud to support Our Village’s Festive Appeal, an initiative that is making a profound difference for vulnerable babies and children – and for our planet.
Our Village collects donations of pre-loved baby and children’s items, including cots, car seats, prams, clothing, and other essentials, and rehomes them to families in need across Victoria. With the help of a dedicated group of volunteers, every item is carefully sorted, cleaned, repaired, safety-checked, and beautifully packed before being distributed through social workers and maternal child health nurses to children aged up to six.
Each year, Our Village rehomes more than 200 tonnes of essential items, ensuring that families facing hardship have access to the basics every child deserves.
And, by extending the life cycle of children’s goods through repair and reuse, Our Village plays a vital role in Victoria’s circular economy, reducing waste, recycling unusable materials, and finding new purposes for items that can’t be rehomed, diverting hundreds of tonnes of material from turning into landfill.
The first 2000 days of a child’s life are vital. This critical period shapes their health, development, and resilience. When families face economic, emotional, or physical stress, those crucial bonds between children and their caregivers can be harder to nurture. By providing practical relief through rehomed essentials, Our Village helps ease these pressures, creating the space for children to feel secure and supported.
