The Frank Montagnese Foundation are proud to celebrate the great work of one of our partners, Sunshine Bendigo who are celebrating eight years in operation this July.
Sunshine Bendigo’s profound impact has been felt right throughout the Bendigo community and surrounding regions, as they aim to provide essential needs for babies and children “by caring more and wasting less”.
Through the help of a committed team of over 35 volunteers, Sunshine Bendigo have supported 1283 children with 3730 items with a dollar value of approximately $384,000 and have saved a whopping 16,219kg of goods from landfill.
They have also connected with over 350 affiliated service providers in this sector!
“2024 proves to be a difficult time for many with the rising costs of living and new demands and stresses on families,” their latest newsletter reads.
“We are seeing a far greater demand for our service, which contributes to the challenge of keeping up with the supply of goods. Raising funds also becomes a challenge as people naturally watch their spending as economic conditions tighten.
“As always it is our privilege to be able to step into this need and contribute in this way to our community. Once again, we are extremely proud of the organisation and the impact it continues to have on the community and those families in need.”
Some of the other initiatives to have supported Sunshine Bendigo include The Nappy Collective – who help support families with nappies, and have also been supported by the local realter PRD Real Estate.
Meanwhile, they held their biggest fundraising effort of the year at The Mother’s Day extravaganza, which saw amazing support from their village with corporate and private contributions.
Sunshine Bendigo are calling on anyone to support those in need by donating prams, car seats, cots, warm bedding among baby goods in order to help those struggling to find essentials.
They also have a call-out for other items including baby wash, nappy cream and baby wipes, along with socks and jocks.
